Marseille-Provence Airport (MRS) is in Marignane, about 27 km north-west of the Old Port. Depending on traffic, it takes 25 to 45 minutes to reach the city centre. Here is an honest comparison of your options, from the cheapest to the most comfortable.
The airport shuttle and the train
The shuttle bus links the airport to Saint-Charles station in 25 to 30 minutes for around €10. Practical and cheap, but tied to a timetable, intermediate stops and traffic. You arrive at Saint-Charles… then usually still need a taxi or the metro to reach your hotel with your luggage.
There is also a rail link via Vitrolles Aéroport Marseille-Provence station, connected to the terminal by a walkway. The train is fast to Saint-Charles, but means a connection and is not ideal with heavy luggage or in a group.
The taxi
Taxis wait outside the terminals. A ride to the centre usually costs €65 to €95 depending on the time, day and traffic — not counting possible luggage supplements and the tunnel toll. It is fast and direct, but the fare is only known on arrival (meter) and can climb in heavy traffic.
The private chauffeur transfer
With NeoShuttle, your driver tracks your flight, waits for you in the arrivals hall with a name sign and drives you straight to your address. The price is fixed and known when you book: €60 for the airport package in a sedan, with no surprise even if the plane is late.
- Fixed price set when you book (no meter)
- Flight tracking: the driver adapts to a delay or early arrival
- Name-sign welcome in the hall, help with luggage
- Sedan for up to 3 passengers, private van for up to 8
What should you choose?
On a tight budget and without luggage, the shuttle is enough. For a business trip, a late arrival, a group or a family with suitcases, the private transfer is the most relaxed option: a single door-to-door ride, a guaranteed price and a driver waiting for you, whatever the time.
